Together with Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, Sri Krishna and other spiritual leaders, there have been many inspirational figures in our time:
the Dalai Lama who radiates compassion and tolerance for all; Mother Teresa who gave her life and love to those most of us would avoid; Nelson Mandela, a champion of forgiveness, freedom, and fairness; Malala Yousafzai, the brave young Pakistani girl who has become a world leader for women’s rights, especially education to name only four.
Then there are the inspiring athletes like Simone Manuel, Katie Ledecky, Simone Biles, Michael Phelps, Wayde van Niekerk, Usain Bolt and so many others who have gone through many years of long days, pain, and tough training to become what they are today.
There are so many ordinary people around us who inspire me too: grandparents bringing up their grandchildren; teachers who make their students feel that they are important and can make a difference; nurses who give the same professional attention to every patient in their care; parents who are determined to bring up good, responsible adults; yoga teachers who care as much for their students mental well-being as their physical abilities; exercise instructors whose understanding patience makes their older students feel young again, and friends and neighbors who are always there when help is needed.
Who inspires you?
