Three Billion people watched the Opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games. It looks like only sixty million will be watching the “Great Debate” tonight. Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump, the two combatants will be putting on their gloves and entering the ring at 9:00pm ET tonight on just about every TV channel that pretends to cover politics. All ringside seats sold out!
What can we expect? The opponents will be covered with politic grease to try to ward off any heavy blows. Remember, this is only Round One in a Three Round Championship. Expect both combatants to be testing each other out, feinting and jabbing with the occasional wild haymaker swing.
Things could get ugly as both will probably aim occasional blows below the belt in an attempt for a technical knockout. Three points will be deducted for vulgarity, two points for outright lies and one point for ducking and weaving.
However, the likely outcome will be a draw leaving us somewhat disappointed but hoping for blood in Round Two. Chances of a knockout from either side have been estimated by our political bookies at 10:1 against. Let’s hope that no late injuries such as strained larynxes or panic attacks cause a postponement.
